Vidalok Campaign Setting: Astrology and Fortune-Telling
"The Lightning Game"

Divination and fortune-telling are important aspects of Vidalok culture. Most of the nobility keep at least one personal seer in their employ, and an accurate diviner is one of the most highly-prized possesions a man can have. Even the peasantry and lesser folk hold seers in the greatest respect, and all children receive a prophecy when they reach 16 years old as a rite of passage into adulthood. For the poorest souls, this prophecy may be the only one they ever receive, and how often a man visits a seer is the clearest display of his wealth.

While the clouds in the sky are astrologically significant during birth, believed to shape personality and temperament, the many moons of Vidalok hold sway over the future and success of mortal ambitions. Each moon has its own meaning, and the different alignment and composures they can take give meaning to the luck of the day. Victory comes easiest to those who make their plans in accordance with the phases of the moons, their positions and their individual fields of power.

The names of the 16 Moons of Vidalok, and their spheres of control, are known by most - if not all - inhabitants of the world. How to interpret them, however, is an arcane matter known only to wise-women, wizards and oracles.
